1. Introduction

BiteRated ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website biterated.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the Service, and the rights you have over that data. We are committed to processing personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Spanish data protection law.

2. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Contact data: your name and email address when you contact us or ask to be notified at launch. The Service does not currently offer user accounts, so we never collect passwords.
  • Usage data: pages viewed, products searched, and features used, collected to improve the Service.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system, collected automatically for security and analytics.
  • Communications data: the contents of messages you send us via the contact form or email.

3. How we use your data

We use your personal data to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Respond to your enquiries and support requests
  • Let you know when the platform launches, if you asked us to
  • Send service-related notifications (e.g. security alerts or changes to this policy)
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse
  • Comply with our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Legal bases for processing

We process your data on the following legal bases: legitimate interests (improving and securing the Service), consent (where you have given it, e.g. asking to be notified at launch), and legal obligation (where processing is required by law).

5. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to operate the Service. We may use analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used; where required, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

6. Data retention

We retain contact data only as long as needed to respond to you or to notify you at launch. If you ask us to delete your data, we delete or anonymize it within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer. Usage and technical data is retained in aggregated or anonymized form for analytics.

7. Data sharing

We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf (such as hosting and email providers) under data processing agreements, and where required by law or to protect our legal rights. We never share your data with dog food brands or manufacturers.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, such as the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD). To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the contact page or at info@biterated.com.

9. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your information.

10. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the Service or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
